② Performance of Iwami Kagura‒Iwami Welfare Society Performing Arts Club
Program: Orochi

Iwami Kagura, designated as Japan Heritage in 2019, is an oral tradition performing art in the western part of Shimane Prefecture. The show named "Orochi”is one of the representative performances of Iwami Kagura. A large snake (Orochi) flies around the stage in this play about a myth from ancient Japan.
In 1985, a performing arts club was launched at Iwami Welfare Society, a social welfare group, with the staff and people with disabilities performing at Iwami Kagura events. Being a traditional Japanese performing art that was recognized as a Japan Heritage in May 2019, some were worried whether Iwami Kagura could be passed down by people with disabilities. When the club was first established, the members held activities around having fun with kagura music, but with the passion of the staff and the locals, they have now acquired full-fledged skills and even joined a council composed of local kagura groups. In October 2017, as part of the 2017 Japan x Nantes Project, their performance was held in Nantes, France where they received great praise from the locals there.

Barrier-free Theater “Helen Keller”

To everyone looking for their own tomorrow
This new barrier-free theater attempt began in 2018. For the deaf and hard of hearing, subtitles are displayed on the background screen, and the stage sign language interpreter supplements the stage expression with movements assimilated with the actor on the stage. In addition, for visually impaired people who are blind and hard to see, audio guides will be played openly at the venue to ensure access to information in a way that creatively supplements the progress of the story.
Barrier-free theater attempts are still in their infancy.
The word "barrier-free" in theater has the meaning of unleashing our feelings above all else. Everyone, please enjoy the stage where a new wind is blowing.

After talk after watching the play 15:40~16:40

What is a barrier-free movie?
We have added sub-audio and Japanese subtitles so that people with visual and hearing disabilities who have rarely seen the movie and elderly people can enjoy the movie. In addition, instead of the one-way idea of "for people with disabilities," the filmmakers are actively involved in the work, based on the idea that the general public can enjoy the work together, to create a barrier-free version with new information.

Project 5

Agriculture ☓Welfare ☓ Food Project

-Communicating the richness and deliciousness of Japanese food culture from the perspective of people with disabilities-
Under the supervision of cooking researcher Yukio Hattori, the chefs of Hattori Gakuen Hattori Nutrition College created a special recipe using agricultural products produced by the disability welfare service office as ingredients. The recipe I made this time is Chichibu's local dish, "Small Lunch," which is eaten when you are hungry, such as during farm work.
Let's enjoy the history and story of Chichibu with delicious recipes.
