描かれるのは、八代亜紀、ちあきなおみ、アブドーラ・ザ・ブッチャー、アニメ「ろぼっ子ビートン」のキャラクターのウララちゃんなどの題材。それらは青木のフィルターを通り抜けることで、濃厚、濃密な肖像として変貌を遂げる。ボールペンや鉛筆で力強く刻まれた線や形からは、モチーフに向けた青木の熱い思いが溢れだしている。絵は、小学生の頃から描きはじめた。以前は入所した福祉施設で制作を行っていたが、退所後も自宅や通所する福祉施設で精力的に描き続けている。

Aoki draws Yashiro Aki, Chiaki Naomi, Abdullah the Butcher, and Urara-chan from Robokko Beeton. These characters are transformed into rich and dense portraits when they pass through Aoki’s filter. The lines and shapes engraved with a ballpoint pen or pencil clearly display his passion for motifs. He started drawing when he was an elementary school student. He used to create at the welfare institution where he was placed, but now draws vigorously at home and at the welfare institution he currently goes to.

後藤は小さな花をいくつも描き、無数の色彩がひしめき合う抽象的な絵を作り出す。彼女が所属する福祉施設の支援員が小さな紙にたくさんのカラフルな花をぎっしり描いているのを見つけ、画用紙を渡したことをきっかけに、画用紙いっぱいに花を描いたのだという。そこから作品が展覧会で紹介されるようになった。コミュニケーションが苦手だったという後藤だったが、絵を通して彼女自身のコミュニケーションも増えていったという。最近は花の数が減り、「○、□」といった記号が多くみられるようになった。これらは葉っぱを表しているとのことである。

Goto draws many small flowers to create an abstract drawing with infinite colors. She found out that a support member of the welfare facility to which she belongs drew many colorful flowers on a small piece of paper. She was given that piece of paper and drew many flowers on it. Goto was not good at communicating, but her communications skills improved through drawing. Recently, she has drawn fewer flowers and now symbols like ○ and □ have become more common. It is believed that these symbols represent leaves.

制作の時間は夜明けから日暮れまで、時期は毎年、雪が解けてから再び雪が積もるまで。材料は、周囲から集めてきた草や石、木、時には野菜やデッキブラシなども。制作スペースは食堂裏の空き地、東屋のベンチなど。坂本は、材料を施設周辺から拾い集めてきては並べて置くというこの行為を、70歳頃からはじめ、亡くなる2016年まで続けた。坂本によるこの行為は、あたかも、子どもが、ガラクタや人形などに向かって、親しみを込めて向き合うかのようであった。関心をくすぐる材料の感触を確かめながら並べ、そこに広がる風景を見つめることで、外界を知覚していたといえるのかもしれない。

Sakamoto created every year, since the snow melted until it started snowing again, from dusk till dawn. He used plants, stones and branch of woods that he picked from his surroundings, and sometimes vegetables and decking brushes. He created in empty lots behind a cafeteria and on an arbor bench. Sakamoto started to gather materials from the surroundings of the facility and place them side by side when he was around 70 years old and continued to do so until 2016 when he passed away. It was as if a child befriending junk. He might have perceived the outside world by the feel of the objects he lined up and observing the emerging scenery.

高橋は、高い場所から街を見下ろすような構図の風景の絵を多く描いた。またそこには、時折、おびただしい数の群衆が描き込まれる。それにもかかわらず、絵の中の世界は、観る者に平穏な日常というものを思い起こさせる。高橋が本格的に絵を描き始めたのは58歳のとき。作業所で絵画クラブがスタートしたことがきっかけであった。多くの絵は、雑誌の写真や図録などを参考にしながら描くが、忠実な再現にはこだわらない。描き進めるにつれて、高橋の趣向が入り込んでいき、独自性を放つ世界が少しずつ形作られていく。

Takahashi made many drawings of landscapes of the city looking down from high places which occasionally included large crowds. Nevertheless, the worlds represented in the drawings give viewers an impression of mildness reminding them of everyday peaceful life at the same time. Takahashi started to become serious about creativity at the age of 58 because of the painting club at a workshop. Most of his work is based on photos and picture books, but he is not particular about replicating them. As he draws, his ideas come into play and a unique world is gradually created.

戦前生まれの滝瀬は大量の絵を描き残した。現存するだけでも約400枚の作品が彼が暮らした施設に大切に保管されている。晩年は、愛読していた『文芸春秋』の記事を書き写したり、計算機を使って延々と計算に興じていたという逸話が残っており、多趣味な一面をうかがい知れる。そして、絵を描くこともまた、彼が多くの時間を費やしたことの一つであった。絵は主に記憶をベースに描かれているが、特筆すべきは登場する古い道具や建物、車のディティールや、細やかな情景描写である。古き日本の家庭や、街並みが闊達に描写される滝瀬の作品からは、瑞々しい記憶に裏付けされた過ぎ去った日々への郷愁と、日常に宿るふとした美しさを感じ取ることができる。

Having been born before World War 2, Takise left many drawings. Approximately 400 works of art have been preserved in the facility where he lived. In his later years, he transcribed articles from Bungei Shunju, a magazine which he loved reading, and there are anecdotes of him amusing himself by using a calculator and performing calculations endlessly. He also spent a lot of time drawing. Although most of the drawings are based on memories, the noteworthy ones are those of old tools and buildings, details of old tools, and detailed scenes. The old Japanese homes and cityscapes that Takise vibrantly draws make you feel nostalgia of the old days and unexpected beauty in everyday life.

Takeuchi Tomoakiが制作を行う目的は、自らが理想とするフォルムを持った人形を完成させることである。まだ完成品はできておらず、理想体に向けて日々試行錯誤しながら、試作の素体が制作されている段階であり、出展作品もこの意味では、制作途中のものといえる。「想像しながら作っている時が一番楽しく、ある程度出来上がってきたら急に興味を失ってしまう」という本人の言葉のとおり、いくつもの習作が溢れている。他方では、「完成させてしまうとそこで終わってしまう」という思いもあり、Takeuchi Tomoakiの人形作りは終わりなき制作であるともいえる。

Takeuchi creates with the aim to make dolls with the ideal form. His work has not been completed yet, and he is experimenting by trial and error on a daily basis and progressing towards the ideal body. The exhibited works are still in the process of creation. Many studies are exhibited in line with what Takeuchi says,“I feel the happiest when I'm creating while imagining and then suddenly lose interest once it's completed." On the other hand, as he also feels that, “If I complete it, it will be the end", his creations are endless.

田湯は人気アニメのキャラクターやステージで歌うアイドル、または植物などといったモチーフを、うねりのあるフォルムや、力強いタッチで描いてきた。近年では、彼女の新たな表現行為として、もともと描いていた自分の作品に、黒を中心とした暗色で塗りつぶす行為が加わった。この方法を選ぶようになったのには、身近な人物の死を経験したことがきっかけの一つになったのではないかと田湯の母は語る。毎日、朝から夕方まで、多くの時間を描くことに費やす彼女にとって、絵の表現は自身の心のあり様と密接にリンクする営みであるといえるだろう。

Tayu has been drawing motifs, such as popular anime characters, idols who sing on stages, and plants, in undulating forms with a powerful touch. In recent years, she has added her original creations as a new form of expression in which she colors her previous work in black. Her mother believes that the death of someone close to her lead her to express herself in this way. Tayu draws every day from early morning until evening, and what she expresses in her drawings reflects what’s in her heart.

町を俯瞰的に捉えた彼の絵には、車がすし詰めになっている。絵を描くために使うのは、定規とボールペンであり、非常に規則正しくスピーディに描かれていく。支持体にはカレンダーの裏を選ぶ。滑りがよく描きやすいのがその理由である。大量に描かれる車はすべて実在のモデルがあり、彼は車種、年式まで把握した上で、一台一台描き分けている。戸舎の絵のベースになっているのは、彼が勤務先に通うバスの車窓風景だ。はじめは画中に人物も描かれていたが、近年では描かれなくなったという。彼の絵の中では、規則的な線が構造を織り成し、建造物と車のひしめく無人の世界が展開されている。

Toya's drawings show jam-packed cars in the city captured from a high angle. He draws quickly like a clock with a ruler and a ballpoint pen. He uses the back of a calendar as a support because it is easy to slide on. All the cars that he draws are real models and he knows the model and year of each one of them. The base of his drawings is the view from the window of the bus that he rides to go to work. He used to draw in people at first but in recent years, he has removed the people. In his drawings, he intersects regular lines with the structure, unfolding an uninhabited world of buildings and cars.

西川は1993年、「八木一夫が出会った子供たち」展（滋賀県立陶芸の森）に出展したことで注目を集めて以降、国内外で作品を発表している。作品の特徴は、小さな要素を繰り返し増殖・密集させ、一つの大きな集合体を形作るという方法である。「帆船」を形成するのは水兵の集合体であり、「りんご」を形成するのは、なぜかウサギの集合体となっている。作品は、3、4時間で一気に形になっていく。西川は1990年、近江学園への入園を機に、粘土による制作を開始した。卒園した現在も定期的に園を訪れ、制作し続けている。

Nishikawa has been exhibiting his work all over Japan since 1993 when he drew attention to the work he displayed at the exhibition “The children that Yagi Kazuo met". His work is characterized by a method where small elements are repeatedly increased and clustered together to form one large conglomerate. “Sailboat" is composed of a collection of sailors and somehow, “Apple" is composed of a collection of rabbits. His works morph into a shape in 3 or 4 hours. Nishikawa started to create works with clay in 1990 when he entered Omi Gakuen. He has regularly visited the facility even after graduating and continues to create.

高校卒業後、絵を描き始めた濱中。絶えず絵を描き続け、50年以上が経った。描くのは、植物やアマガエル、昆虫など非常に身近な存在である。また、機械仕掛けや幾何学模様への並々ならない興味関心は彼の絵に大きく反映されている。機械的な構造を持つ昆虫や幾何学模様の草花は、彼の作品に頻出するモチーフである。濱中は、それぞれ異なるカテゴリーにある有機物と無機物を、自然科学や機械工学のエッセンスを交えながら融和させていく。「線が好きなんです」と語る濱中が描く、生き物、機械、自然の緻密な線画は、日常に棲む小さな存在に優しい賛歌を送っているかのようだ。

Hamanaka started to draw after graduating from high school. He has been drawing continuously for over 50 years. His avid interest in mechanics and geometric patterns is clearly visible in his work. Motifs of insects with mechanical structures and flowers with geometric patterns frequently appear in his work. Hamanaka blends organic and inorganic substances in different categories with the essence of natural science and mechanical engineering. Hamanaka says “I like the lines". It is as if his detailed line drawings of living things, machines, and nature are singing anthems to the small things that are part of everyday life.

「美保さんシリーズ」は、実在する人物（平野が通う施設に勤めていた職員）をモデルにした物語であり、その舞台となる場所も実際訪れたことのある場所である。絵は自宅で描き、絵に添えられる「字幕」と呼ばれるテキストは、施設のパソコンで思いを巡らし入力をしている。シンプルな線、大胆な構図、ユニークなテキストで構成された作品は、物語全体に特有のリズムをもたらす。また、平野は靴を「土足」と呼び、特に強いこだわりを持って描く。初期作品は、下半身しか登場しないこともあり、足元のクローズアップをはじめ、靴が乗り物に変化するなど、様々な展開をみせる。

The Miho-san series is a story based on real people who worked at a facility where Hirano goes to, and its setting is also a place he visited. He draws at home and inputs the captions on a computer at the facility. His works are composed of simples lines and daring compositions that bring a unique rhythm to the whole story. He calls shoes “dosoku” (wearing one’s shoes) and draws with strong determination. At times, only the lower body is portrayed in the initial stages, showing various developments such as close-ups of feet and shoes transforming into vehicles.

物心ついたころから、絵を描くのが好きであったという藤井。画中に登場するのは、バス、電車といった乗り物、アニメのキャラクター、企業のロゴマークや道路標識、アイスクリームなどであり、彼の関心事が画面に一挙に集っているといえる。また、旅行や外出が好きな藤井であるが、近年はグーグルマップを駆使して、ウェブ上でさまざまな場所を旅することも楽しんでいるという。画中に溢れるアイテムは道で見かけるものが多いことから、藤井にとって絵を描くことは、主に彼が外出先で見かけた風景を中心に、自身が吸収した情報を、紙面上に再構成する行為にもみえる。

Fujii says he has liked drawing as far as he can remember. He draws vehicles such as buses and trains, anime characters, company logos, road signs, and ice cream, and all of his interests are displayed on the surface of the drawing. Fujii likes to go out and travel but in recent years, he has enjoyed travelling to various places on the Internet using Google Maps. A lot of the objects in the drawing are often found on roads, and it seems that Fujii recreates on paper what he absorbs, mainly landscapes that he saw.

自宅の中庭の柵に括りつけられたおびただしい量の麻紐。柵の足元部分には、ダイエットペプシのボトルがこちらも大量に並べられている。吉田はもともと、コーラを飲んで空にし、ボトルの中に水を入れて柵に並べるという行為を毎日繰り返していた。そんな吉田にとってボトルを吹き飛ばしてしまう台風は忌むべき出来事であった。そのような中、吉田の父がペットボトルを固定する方法として麻紐を括りつけることを提案した。はじめはペットボトルを固定させるためボトルと柵を繋ぎ止めていただけであったが、現在では麻紐を括る行為自体に重要性が増したようで、来る日も来る日も何本かの紐を括り付け、その範囲は柵全体にわたっている。

Many hemp cords are tied to the courtyard fence of his home. Multiple large Pepsi bottles are also displayed at the bottom of the picket. Yoshida used to drink Pepsi, empty the bottle and fill it up with water, and line them up on the picket every day. It was a tragic event for him when the typhoon blew away the bottles. Under such circumstances, Yoshida's father suggested tying the bottles with hemp cords to keep them fixed to the fence. At first, the purpose was to keep the PET bottles fixed to the fence. But now, it seems that the process of tying the hemp cord itself has become more meaningful. Every day, several strings are tied up spanning the whole fence.

全紙サイズの紙に黒色のペンのみで絵を描いていたが、2016年には、12色のマーカーを用い、絵に色彩をつけ始め、また2019年からは、大きい紙にモノクロの作品を描くようにもなった。これまで描いた作品は、大小様々1,500点に及び、中には14mの大作もある。画面をよく観ると、文字や数字がこと細かに記されていることに気づく。ある部分には、何かの理論や数式のようなものが、またある部分には、誰かに向けて発せられた台詞やダジャレなども見られる。ありとあらゆる場面を構成要素としながら、壮大な一つの風景を確立している。絵を見ていると、作者の頭の中に広がる並行世界を覗き見ている気持ちになる。

Yonaha used to draw on all sizes of paper only with a black pen. In 2016, he started using 12 color markers to add color to his work. From 2019, he started to draw in black-and-white on large paper. To date, he has drawn 1,500 pieces, both large and small, some of which are 14 long. If you look closely at the drawing surface, you can notice the letters and numbers are written in minute detail. You can see something that resembles a theory or mathematical formula in one part. In another part, you can see dialogues and puns. All sorts of scenes are used as compositional elements to create magnificent scenery. When you're looking at the drawing, it feels as if you were looking into a parallel world that is the extension of Yonaha's mind.
